The Langley Hospice Society is looking for 150 DONORS to DONATE $150 in celebration of Canada’s 150th. Funds raised will help provide important palliative and bereavement care and support programs and services for the children, teens, adults and families we serve through our Supportive Program Centre in Langley.
Saying good bye to a loved one is not an easy task, and grief is a very personal journey, but that doesn’t mean it must be travelled alone. The Langley Hospice Society offers a number of client-centred grief support programs, free of charge through their Supportive Programs Centre in Langley. Programs include one-to-one and group loss support for children, teens, adults and families, Supportive Steps – a walking group for bereaved adults, Cooking for One, Grief Wellness Yoga, Child Loss Support Groups, Widows Group – Coffee Mornings, Outreach programs in local schools, Seasonal Day Camps and an annual summer camp for grieving children and teens.
The death of a loved one can be one of the most stressful events in a person’s life. A wide array of emotions can be experienced, such as sadness, anger, anxiety, guilt, anger and despair. Changes in sleep patterns and appetite can occur, as well as physical illness. There are all natural parts of grieving and the feelings can ebb and flow over time.
“Grief is NOT a disorder, a disease or a sign of weakness. It is an emotional, physical and spiritual necessity, the price you pay for love. The only cure for grief is to grieve.” ~ Earl Grollman
With diverse but limited funding sources, the Langley Hospice Society fundraises annually to ensure access to these important bereavement support programs and services for individuals who have experienced the death of a significant person in their lives.
Please consider joining our #Donate150for150 Campaign and help the Langley Hospice Society to fulfill our mission to provide compassionate support to help people live with dignity and hope while coping with grief and the end of life.
